US aerospace and technology company recognized for contribution to transatlantic innovation ecosystem.

U.S.-based aerospace and technology company Axient Systems has received the Holland on the Hill Freddy Heineken Award, recognizing its contribution to strengthening the economic relationship between the Netherlands and the United States.

Presented in Washington D.C. as part of the Holland on the Hill program, the award, named after Dutch entrepreneur Freddy Heineken, honors a Dutch or American company whose leadership exhibits excellence in business, as entrepreneurial spirit, and a meaningful contribution to strategic priorities of the Netherlands. The company joins previous American recipients of the award including KnowBe4 and Merck.

Ambassador Birgitta Tazelaar of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United States presented the award to Axient, and said, “The Netherlands is incredibly proud to be home to Axient Systems’ first European office. In a remarkably short time, Axient has become a key player at the intersection of academia, government, and industry within our innovation ecosystem.  “[The visionary work of Jay Kovacs, President of Axient Systems] and Axient’s rapid integration in Delft illustrates that the Netherlands is not just an innovative partner; we are a deeply reliable and substantial one.”

Tapping into the Dutch innovation ecosystem

Axient’s expansion into the Netherlands reflects the country’s leading position as a European hub for innovation, particularly in aerospace and its high-tech ecosystem. After establishing its international office in the beating heart of the Dutch aerospace cluster in Delft in 2024, the company has built on existing collaboration with leading research institutes and industry partners, such as Delft University of Technology and TNO Space & Scientific Instrumentation.

The Netherlands’ highly connected innovation landscape, underpinned by cooperation between business, government and knowledge institutions, provides an environment in which international companies can scale and develop solutions for global markets. By embedding itself within the ecosystem, Axient is strengthening connections between U.S. and European innovation communities.

Invest in Holland support

The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, together with Invest in Holland partner Innovation Quarter, supported Axient in establishing its operations in the Netherlands, with guidance on market entry, providing connections to key ecosystem partners and support in navigating the local business environment.

Partnership-driven growth in Europe

Axient’s approach in the Netherlands is centered on long-term partnership and collaboration. Through its presence, the company is working with partners to accelerate the development and application of its advanced technologies, while expanding reach across Europe.

The Netherlands serves as a strategic base for companies seeking access to European markets, offering a combination of international connectivity, a skilled talent pool and a supportive business environment. Axient’s continued investment highlights the role of the Netherlands as a gateway for transatlantic innovation.
