Japanese technology company Hitachi High-Tech has opened a new Innovation Center at High Tech Campus Eindhoven (HTCE). The facility will focus on advancing semiconductor metrology technologies and accelerating the transition from laboratory research to industrial production. Its arrival further strengthens Brabant’s position as one of Europe’s leading semiconductor and deep-tech regions.

The new Innovation Center will serve as a hub for collaboration with companies, research institutes and universities. By combining its expertise in electron beam technology with advanced AI capabilities, Hitachi High-Tech aims to speed up technology development and shorten the path from research to real-world application.

The decision to establish the center in Eindhoven reflects the region’s strong semiconductor ecosystem, open innovation culture and concentration of specialised talent. Hitachi High-Tech already collaborates with organisations such as Delft University of Technology and TNO, as well as several leading technology companies in the Netherlands. The company sees Brabant as a strategic location for expanding its European R&D activities.

The investment is the result of a collaboration that began in December 2024, when the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) introduced Hitachi High-Tech to High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Over the following months, Hitachi High-Tech and HTCE worked closely together to explore opportunities within the regional innovation ecosystem and assess how the company’s technologies could be integrated into the campus environment.

As partners within the Invest in Holland network, NFIA and BOM supported Hitachi High-Tech throughout its location and expansion process, helping the company identify opportunities and connect with key stakeholders across the Brabant ecosystem.

Edwin Zonder, Senior Project Manager Foreign Investments at BOM says:

“BOM and NFIA played a pivotal role in bringing together Hitachi High-Tech’s teams in Japan and Europe with High Tech Campus Eindhoven. By connecting the right partners at the right time, we helped create the foundations for this investment and for Hitachi High-Tech’s long-term presence within Brabant’s high-tech ecosystem”

Creating new opportunities

According to Toine Cleophas, Senior Project Manager High Tech at BOM, the arrival of Hitachi High-Tech creates new opportunities throughout the semiconductor value chain.

“Global semiconductor leaders such as Hitachi High-Tech strengthen the Netherlands’ innovation ecosystem. Their expertise in semiconductor metrology opens new opportunities for collaboration and further reinforces Brabant’s position as a leading deep-tech region.”

The opening of the Innovation Center demonstrates the growing international appeal of Brabant as a destination for high-tech investment. It also highlights the power of collaboration between global technology companies, knowledge institutions and regional partners in accelerating innovation and creating long-term economic impact.
