SSIA and Brabant Development Agency (BOM) deepen Singapore-Netherlands semiconductor ties

Partnership connects Dutch advanced manufacturers with Singapore suppliers as companies seek trusted partners amid shifting global supply chains.

As geopolitical tensions continue to reshape semiconductor supply chains, companies are placing greater weight on trusted partners and resilient, diversified sourcing. Singapore, with its open economy, its reputation as a trusted hub and its deep base of semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, is increasingly playing the role of a convenor, bringing together ecosystems and companies to build partnerships across borders.

Today, the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM), the regional economic development agency for the Dutch province of North Brabant, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration between the semiconductor ecosystems of Singapore and the Netherlands. The MOU was signed at the SSIA Summit 2026 at Resorts World Sentosa by Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director of SSIA, and Daan de Cloe, Managing Director, Foreign Investment and International Trade, BOM. The signing was witnessed by Brian Tan, Chairman of SSIA, and Chris Devillers, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore.

The partnership comes as semiconductor companies look to diversify supply chains and build deeper networks of qualified suppliers amid geopolitical and supply-chain uncertainty.

Opportunity pipeline

Under the MOU, the two organisations intend to build an opportunity pipeline between Dutch  advanced manufacturing companies and suppliers in Singapore, and to support companies and knowledge institutions in both ecosystems in exploring business, technology, innovation and supply chain partnerships. The areas of cooperation include qualifying company needs, business matching with structured follow-up towards technical assessment and supplier qualification, market access in both directions (including support for Singapore companies establishing a base in the Netherlands), business missions, a shared annual calendar of touchpoints, skills and workforce development, and the exchange of market and industry information.

Beyond business matching, the partnership aims to enable the development and manufacturing of innovations and technologies that help address global and societal challenges, and to support the transition towards a resilient future. This includes dialogue on workforce development and exploring partnerships and exchanges between universities, innovation centres and industry partners.

“As semiconductor supply chains shift, companies are looking not only for alternative suppliers, but for partners they can trust and scale with. The Netherlands has world-leading capabilities in semiconductor equipment and technology, while Singapore has deep strengths in precision manufacturing, engineering and supply chain management. This partnership is about connecting those capabilities, and creating real pathways for companies on both sides to find customers, suppliers and technology partners"

Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director, SSIA

The MOU is part of SSIA’s wider effort to connect Singapore with global semiconductor ecosystems, with new international collaborations announced at the SSIA Summit 2026. The signing follows the Netherlands–Singapore Executive Networking Summit Dinner, hosted by SSIA together with BOM on 23 September, which brought together C-suite leaders from both ecosystems alongside senior government representatives. BOM is in Singapore for the Summit with a delegation of more than 15 Dutch semiconductor and advanced manufacturing companies.

“As global trade patterns continue to evolve, Dutch high-tech companies are seeking more resilient supply chains and stronger connections to customers across Asia. Singapore’s position as a trusted, highly connected innovation and manufacturing hub makes it a natural gateway to the region. Through this partnership with SSIA, we will help Dutch companies identify qualified partners and suppliers in Singapore, while creating new opportunities for Singaporean companies to connect with the Netherlands’ world-leading semiconductor and advanced technology ecosystem”, Daan de Cloe, Managing Director, Foreign Investment and International Trade, BOM

The two organisations intend to build on the agreement through the Singapore delegation that SSIA is planning to Dutch Precision Week in the Netherlands, from 16 to 20 November 2026, which includes the Precision Fair in ’s-Hertogenbosch.

“Singapore and the Netherlands have a long-standing, broad, dynamic and forward-looking partnership. As two deeply innovative, open, and future-oriented economies, we are natural partners in the high‑tech and semiconductor domain. This MOU will open up new opportunities for Singaporean and Dutch organisations to deepen their cooperation, strengthen resilient semiconductor value chains, and help us address technological and societal challenges together".

Anneke Adema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Singapore.
