Regenerative Medicine

Smart biomaterials and regenerative medicine have advanced to the peak of innovation and science in Brabant. With a vibrant ecosystem of research institutions, universities, and cutting-edge companies, the region has emerged as a global hub for pioneering breakthroughs in this revolutionary domain. Regenerative medicine, which harnesses the body’s own natural healing abilities to restore or replace damaged tissues and organs, has seen remarkable progress thanks to collaborative efforts and a strong knowledge-sharing culture.

Smart BioMaterials Consortium

SBMC facilitates the accelerated development and clinical production of smart biomaterials for regenerative medicine, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, leading companies, and strategic investors. SBMC enables the advancement of product development through shared translational platforms that address critical bottlenecks in the commercialization of regenerative medicine.

Collaborating with renowned research institutions and fostering new ventures, SBMC accelerates the translation of promising technologies, processes, and therapies into transformative health outcomes. High-quality facilities are provided for the industrialization of smart biomaterials and biodegradable implants applied in regenerative medicine-based technologies. SBMC operates as part of the RegMed XB National Pilot factory, which consists of four initiatives forming the national pilot plant for regenerative medicine. Within this framework, SBMC manages a development facility on the Eindhoven University of Technology campus and a pilot production facility. The pilot factory for regenerative medicine is being constructed as part of the growth fund program RegMed XB.

Creating value together with RedMed XB

In the Netherlands, under the slogan “From Care to Cure”, the Regenerative Medicine Top Cluster in the Netherlands is aiming to create regenerative medicine solutions from symptomatic treatment of chronic diseases to prevention and cure. They have united and started a public-private partnership called RegMed XB in 2016. With several medical foundations, top-class researchers, companies, and governmental instances as its members, RegMed XB is actively addressing the ambitious challenges in regenerative medicine and has built a strong infrastructure that brings together top-class experts and companies in the field. At this symposium, RegMed XB and its partner institutions will introduce cutting-edge projects in the Netherlands.
